Just come from watching Haifa wreck Salzburg’s chances in soccer’s Champions League.
The Israel team played to a home crowd and won well. Hard, fast and beautiful, as befits the beautiful game.
But I was horrified to see a banner hung from centre-stand which houses the elite of supporters … KILL EM ALL
In national terms, this contest was Jewish club versus an Austrian one.
My bet is it wasn’t the visitors who hung out the sign.
I come from a soccer-mad sectarian background and know all too well about provocation.
Canadians, remember the Christie Pits riots, the flashpoint of which was a crude hand-made banner with a swastika on it, raised at a sporting event.
So can someone please tell me what the Haifa supporters meant?
Kill all of ….. who?

Good question…was there any comment on the banner from the sportscaster??
