Great Hypocrites of our Times has been left fallow for a while because hypocrisy is no fun.
But it’s time, RW has a duty to perform.

This time we have a joint presentation. With the technology available, I can’t zoom in on the members of our planet who give out Nobel Peace prizes, but as proxy for the human race would those representatives please step up to the stage alongside its famous and most recent recipient.
Give it up for “Surge II” Obama!
USA won`t ever admit this surge is a desperate, warmongering Bush-era jingle which means they got it all wrong at the beginning.
In the run-up to this award, Obama was already dedicated to spilling more blood in Afghanistan. He knew the pending increase of uniformed American belligerents had three zeros after it, the only thing he didn’t know was the first two digits.
Prince of Peace my arse.
The post-Bush world obviously succumbed to slobbering sycophancy when they rushed at Obama with the greatest award in human civilisation, a simultaneous and egregious insult to all past recipients.
If Obama had any class at all he would have said to the Nobel committee, thanks but not now. Maybe later.
(Did I hear Kim Jong-Il has been shortlisted….?)

I would second the nomination.
However there’s a small caveat.
It’s not a widely-known aspect of the American presidency…but it comes with an automatic hypocrisy-acceptance oath.
You cannot become President without taking it.
This is mandatory for any presidential aspirant who has ever voted against a war of any kind.
As a Senator, Obama was a lonely voice of opposition to the invasion of Iraq.
Now of course he’s paying the price.
It’s either “go along” or die…which I suppose is something of a Hobbesian Choice.
Several offline readers have commented that even at this juncture Obama’s hypocrisy would be mitigated if he gave the Nobel award back.
Scandinavia may live to regret hosting a climate- hypocrisy summit and concurrent Big Fat Hypocrite Nobel ceremony.
Not at all inspirational, the new high-water marks being created in Copenhagen and Oslo this week.
Nations aspiring to host future international schmoozefests like these should take note, they may fall victim to “the COP-OS Effect” chilling future tourism when visitors go back home and tell their friends it was ok, but there was this smell everywhere in those cities, like something bloated and rotten under the floorboards, apparently they can’t get rid of it……
