Canada and Afghanistan – Send Someone to a Shithole – They Come Back Changed

The Toronto Star has launched a new feature called “The War at Home”. Well worth taking a look at.

    Yes.
War is hell, and unprovoked aggression by people who should know better… is worse.

Canada and its heavily-armed humanitarians, take note.
These careerists are going back for second and third helpings and instead of taking sentimental valuables on their “tours”, why not even the most basic history-book.

We have yet to see even one of them desert this “shithole” as a matter of conscience.

I will attempt to hold off judgement on the Star but already suspect this one is an agenda to please their shareholders.
They’d have us believe this is Vimy Ridge all over again.

    It isn’t.

In my view the First World War was based on an entirely false premise; it was the useless slaughter of brave young men and women of both sides.

Vimy and other so-called “famous battles” were exercises in murder, as was the entire business of the whole stupid conflict.

There was no glory for anyone in that conflict and no glory for anyone in any conflict since – in my view.

Afghanistan is simply one more idiotic war based on a premise as false as that of any previous one.

The difference is that the Afghan War pays better.

As for The Star, like you L.A. I reserve judgement.
