Slowly but surely, as Canada falls under the ever-darkening pall of a sunless Conservative sky, the country’s once-glorious reputation moulders and falls into disrepute. (just check out this American view).
We’ve abandoned our peacekeeping tradition.
We’ve consigned the arts to the back room with no funds.
We’ve sent young men and women to die in a foreign land for a cause that nobody understands.
As Steven Harper, Paul Martin and Jean Chretien all affirm…we have become more Conservative.
The slide into Con-servatism was started by Jean Chretien…pumped up by Paul Martin and hastened into flower by Martin’s ideological heir, Stephen Harper.
The hangers-on and bottom feeders of Conservatism support their Conservative leaders in the same way that true believers support an imaginary God. The best Conservatives are the Corporations, which get government subsidies and exploit us daily.
The Oil companies, the Banks, the Agricultural behemoths like Cargill, the Arms manufacturers and the Corporate lobbyists for all of the above – they exploit us – daily.
They suck the blood from our veins through private pipelines that run from our communities to our Federal Government and thence into their private treasuries. Hello Brian Mulroney.
And yes – they do it with the complicity of the politicians we elect.
People complain about the politicians…but who elects these guys? You and me that’s who. Everybody says that politicians suck ok?
And here’s where I have to turn to George Carlin…the greatest social commentator of modern times.
He has nailed it in this video. So the next time you hear Steven Harper say that Canada is "turning Conservative", or you holier than thou taxpaying fools complain about a politician – remember this video, folks, and weep.
Carlin talks about America…but he might as well be talking about Canada.
I urge you to watch this…watch it carefully. And wherever you hear the word America, substitute Canada. Because THAT’S HOW IT REALLY IS fOLKS – THAT’S HOW IT IS.
