Finally Some Realism On Canada and Afghanistan From A Good Source With Some Inside Knowledge
Ever since we’ve been involved in Afghanistan, the media have been enthralled by being on the frontlines of a "real" war. They’ve extolled it; glorified it; wept over it; and parrotted the government line on it.
From very near the beginning, Newspapers, Television and Radio…public and private…swallowed the old Hillier position, hook line and sinker right up to the General’s hand on the pole. His famous "scumbag" luncheon in Ottawa, thrown at taxpayer expense, was wolfed down by a collection of eager reporters and columnists, who hung on his every word.
The mainstream media embedded themselves valiantly, reporting daily on developments – and monitoring events as they learned about them from the "official" spokespeople. These "officials" were seldom named however, in keeping with the Harper government’s penchant for total secrecy around everything it does no matter what or where.
Esprit de Corps is an independent military magazine edited by a former soldier, who writes a column for The Halifax Chronicle.
Must Reading.

I always seem to miss an important detail…Scott Taylor writes as “unembedded”.
And I’m so impressed with the Taliban planning a “Spring Offensive”, CTV use that expression on every segment.
Like, is there a fashion-line to go with it?
Did the Taliban get hold of a Sears catalogue?
no…not a catalogue. CTV’s use of the term “spring offensive” is a throwback to the Vietnam era and the “Tet Offensive”. which marked the final defeat of America in that part of the world.
We have all been sold a bag of crap from all the leaders of the so called “Democratic” world. The writer you featured will be followed by many I hope.
Eric Margolis also has a good column on the foreign policies of McCain and Obama. http://www.ericmargolis.com/ Worth a read.
