All Weep For the Sheep: A story About The Clever and Unscrupulous – Leading the Blind and Credulous
Is Lawrence Cannon just a flunky?
Is Stephen Harper really a Christian?
Don’t know who Lawrence Cannon is? You’re not alone.
Mr. Cannon is akindly, unassuming gent – an ex-town councillor from Pontiac Quebec; recently he acquired a new job as Mr. Harper’s acting stenographer and
spell-checker. The pinkish tinge on his hands comes from the bloodstains he’s been unable to remove, no matter how much he washes. It’s like after you go to the
bathroom, they say no matter how careful you are, some trace of feces remains.
Mr. Cannon has been on his knees for the past several months wielding a sharp knife as he cuts his way through Canadian Foeign Policy, making both incisions and
excisions. Once Mr. Cannon is finished following orders…these unkind and bloody cuts he’s making, will pretty much emasculate – once and for all – any pretense
Canadians might have had toward international humanitarianism.
And the unkindest cut of all is this: the vast majority of Canadians know nothing about it.
If you care about your country at all…you can read all about it here in Embassy Magazine.

A story About The Clever and Unscrupulous – Leading the Blind and Credulous

Is Lawrence Cannon just a flunky?

Don’t know who Lawrence Cannon is? You’re not alone.

PC_081124lawrence-cannon_8Well…he’s a kindly-looking, unassuming sort of gent – an ex-town councillor from Pontiac Quebec; recently he acquired a new job as Mr. Harper’s acting stenographer.

The pinkish tinge on his hands (which he often keeps hidden) comes from the bloodstains he’s been unable to remove, no matter how much he washes.

Mr. Cannon has been on his knees for the past several months wielding a sharp knife as he slices his way through Canadian Foreign Policy, making both incisions and excisions.

Once Mr. Cannon is finished following his orders from  the Prime Minister, …these unkind and bloody cuts he’s making…will pretty much eliminate – once and for all – any pretense Canadians might have had toward supporting international humanitarianism.

And the unkindest cut of all is this: the vast majority of Canadians know nothing about it.

If you care about your country at all…you can read all about it here in Embassy Magazine.

And then write these goons a letter.

(I think I may be sick).

The Afghan Quagmire Canada Over Its Head

Thursday, August 27th, 2009
For 5 years now, I’ve been saying that the Mission in Afghanistan is a mistake, at least in its present form.
The entire history of this conflict is riddled with errors in strategy and tactics and its publicly stated purpose is deeply flawed.
First of all, there’s no evidence that the so-called “Taliban”, (religious zealots), had anything to do with 9/11. In fact the so-called Taliban government offered – very
early on – to turn Osama bin Laden over to the U.S. for trial based on whatever evidence the U.S. possessed. The Bush administration refused and instead
launched an illegal bombing attack on a sovereign nation.
In any event, the Bush/Cheney cabal never made a serious effort to capture bin Laden.
The initial bombing in October of 2001 was clearly illegal and the American ass was covered by a compliant U.N., which created the phoney structure of ISAF (the
International Security and Assistance Force), with the western nations of NATO taking a combat lead.
The past 8 years have destabilized the entire region, including Pakistan, which possesses nuclear weapons.
Now, a leading democrat, Senator Russ Feingold is calling for a timetable of withdrawal.
He is doing that after a top U.S. military man, Admiral Michael Mullen, chairman of the Pentagon’s Joint Chiefs of Staff has said that the security situation in
Afghanistan is getting worse.
“It is serious and it is deteriorating,” Mullen said recently.
Senator Feingold’s call for a withdrawal timetable reflects a strong decline in public support. According to Bloomberg Business News, a Washington Post-ABC
News poll released Aug. 20 showed a majority of Americans now see the war in Afghanistan as not worth fighting. Only 24 percent said more troops should be
sent to the country.
In Britain, more than two-thirds of people think troops should not be fighting in Afghanistan, and only 1.5 percent of those polled think Prime Minister Gordon
Brown is handling the war “very well”.
A majority of Canadians are becoming doubters and the war is a huge issue in the current German election campaign.
How is that our political leaders can be so obtuse? Apparently, it’s not all that difficult for them. As one U.S. Senator put it not long ago – “You don’t need a Phd to
be a politician”.
The more violence NATO wreaks on Afghanistan, the greater will be the resistance, the unrest and the destabilization. That – is axiomatic now.
It’s long past time for our war-friendly leaders in the west to come up with a strategy that works. Eight years of failure, the expenditure of billions upon billions of
dollars, the loss of thousands of civilian lives and the killing and maiming of hundreds of decent young people in our military is simply unconscionable.

The initial bombing in October of 2001 was clearly illegal and the American ass was covered by a compliant U.N., which created the phoney structure of ISAF (the International Security and Assistance Force), with the western nations of NATO taking a combat lead…much to the delight of our home-grown gung-ho honcho General Rick (“kill the scumbags”) Hillier, who saw the writing on the wall eventually and got out himself.

The past 8 years have destabilized the entire region, including Pakistan, which possesses nuclear weapons.

Now, a leading U.S. Democrat, Senator Russ Feingold is calling for a timetable for American withdrawal.

It’s long past time for our war-friendly leaders in the west to come up with a strategy that works.

  • the expenditure of billions upon billions of taxpayer dollars,

  • the loss of thousands of civilian lives
  • the killing and maiming of hundreds of decent young people in our western military forces…

All this and more-is simply unconscionable

Kill em all

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

Just come from watching Haifa wreck Salzburg’s chances in soccer’s Champions League.
The Israel team played to a home crowd and won well. Hard, fast and beautiful, as befits the beautiful game.

But I was horrified to see a banner hung from centre-stand which houses the elite of supporters … KILL EM ALL

In national terms, this contest was Jewish club versus an Austrian one.

My bet is it wasn’t the visitors who hung out the sign.
I come from a soccer-mad sectarian background and know all too well about provocation.

Canadians, remember the Christie Pits riots, the flashpoint of which was a crude hand-made banner with a swastika on it, raised at a sporting event.

So can someone please tell me what the Haifa supporters meant?

Kill all of ….. who?

Israel The World Bank and Thirsty Palestinians

Monday, August 24th, 2009
The World Bank noted that availability of water resources is badly skewed, “with fresh water per capita in Israel approximately four times that of the West Bank and Gaza”.
The bottom line of this situation is that Israel allows the Palestinians access to about 85 litres of water per person per day. At the same time Israel distributes 285 litres of water per person per day to all Israelis both in Israel proper and to the illegal settlements in the West Bank. The World Health Organization stipulates that the minimum requirement per person perday is 137 litres.
In other words Israilis get more than 4 times as much water per person as the Palestinians. Dogs owned by the illegal settlers, who are squatting on Palestinian land, have better access to water than most Palestinian humans.
The Israelis also have chosen to provide themselves and their settlers with a much higher quality of water than is availble to the Palestinians.
The World Bank Report found the situation unfair and inequitable, concluding that it threatens the well-being, health and economy of the Palestinians.
However the Fundamental Law applies. What Israel is doing is OK. Everyone else is wrong. Maybe even G-d.
Israel shrugged the World Bank Report off, saying that the World Bank was obviously biased.
The World Bank went silent.
And the World went back to sleep.
The Holy Land’s Fundamental Law:
“Whatever Israel does is OK.
Anyone who objects to Israeli policy is wrong, every time.
Maybe even G-d.”
thirsty people
This Basic Law has been obeyed by all nations of the western world and apparently endorsed by G-d, for the past six-plus decades.
Here’s just one example of its application, drawn from a recent report by The World Bank.
Israel agreed in 1995 to share scarce water resources with the Palestinian People, in a fair and equitable manner.
The Israelis chose to abrogate that agreement unilaterally and under the law, no one was allowed to say boo. No one even cleared their throat.
Palestinians, suffering from thirst, because Israel was reducing their water to a trickle – were forced to appeal to the World Bank to look into the matter. The request was made on the basis that Israel’s decision to appropriate the lion’s share of the region’s water was stifling Palestinian efforts to develop economically. Hence the World Bank Report entitled, rather drily,
“Assessment of Palestinian Water Sector Development”.
The Bank noted that availability of water resources is badly skewed, “with fresh water per capita in Israel approximately four times that of the West Bank and Gaza”.
The bottom line of this situation is that Israel allows the Palestinians access to about 85 litres of water per person per day. At the same time Israel distributes 285 litres of water per person per day to all Israelis both to Israel proper and to the illegal settlements in the West Bank. The World Health Organization stipulates that the minimum requirement per person per day is 137 litres.

The Israelis also have chosen to provide themselves and their settlers with a much higher quality of water than is available to the Palestinians, many of whom are forced to boil their water before it is drinkable.
The World Bank Report found the situation unfair and inequitable, concluding that it threatens the well-being, health and economy of the Palestinians.
However the Fundamental Law applies. What Israel is doing is OK. Everyone else is wrong.
Maybe even G-d.
Israel shrugged the World Bank Report off, saying that the Bank was obviously biased.
The World Bank went silent.
And the World went back to sleep.

A Message For Canada’s Stephen Harper From An American Hero

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

Lieutenant Colonel Robert Bowman is coming to Walkerton, Ontario, Canada.

Lieutenant Colonel Robert Bowman

Lieutenant Colonel Robert Bowman

He will be speaking at Jubilee Hall at 7:30 pm on the evening of August 28th.

Colonel Bowman is a courageous man. He has spoken out as a loyal American officer, urging members of the U.S. military to uphold the Constitution of the United States.

His message is clear and forthright.

He reminds us of the principles enunciated at Nuremberg in Germany, following WW2.

The Nuremberg trials resulted in the conviction of many German officers and administration officials who had committed illegal acts and pleaded innocent on the grounds that they were simply “following orders”.

Trial judges ruled at Nuremberg, that the defence of obedience to authority was not sufficient. Many of those officers and officials were executed for their crimes – the primary one of which was – “planning and waging an aggressive war”.

Since those landmark trials, the Nuremberg principles have been enshrined in the laws of all civilised nations, including the United States and Canada and have the force and effect of constitutional law…the highest law of the land in both countries.

A military officer is required by those laws to disobey an illegal order.

Bowman has called on his fellow soldiers to refuse to obey any orders associated with illegal acts of war, which include the war in Iraq.

His message has particular significance for the government of Stephen Harper. Harper’s officials are deporting U.S. soldiers who have deserted the military because the U.S. government wants to imprison them. However, according to Bowman – those men and women were right to desert, because the orders under which they were acting with respect to Iraq were illegal orders.

Thus we have a situation where the government of Canada – by deporting these men and women – is itself acting outside the law.

This is an altogether shameful state of affairs. Those of us who fail to protest our government’s action are also complicit.
